Arthur
Culbert, Ph.D. serves as the Senior Advisor to the Missouri
Foundation for Health www.mfh.org
In this capacity, Dr. Culbert over sees the development
of a Missouri state wide health literacy enhancement
center. Prior to this, Dr. Culbert spent 31 years as
a faculty member and dean at Boston University. During
this time he served as the Associate Dean for Student
Affairs and Educational Programs at the School of Medicine
as well as the Associate Dean for Admissions in the
School of Public Health He was an Associate Professor,
Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences at the
Boston University School of Public Health; Associate
Chairman, Department of Socio-Medical Sciences and Community
Medicine Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Culbert has over 25 years of teaching
experience in the fields of public health, medical sociology,
and medical education. Throughout his career he has
been a pioneer, an innovator, and a leader in the fields
of public health and medical education. He served as
the Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Boston University
School of Medicine from 1991 to 2001 and was elected
by his peers to serve as the National Chair for the
Group on Student Affairs at the Association of American
Medical Colleges. In the 1980s he designed, developed
and implemented the Early Medical School Selection Program.
In the early 1990s he authored Profile M.D. an electronic
career advising program used by hundreds of medical
students in medical schools through out the country.
Dr. Culbert worked as Scholar in Residence
at the Association of American Medical Colleges in the
design and development of MedCAREERS, a wed-based career-advising
program for medical students implemented in medical
schools in the fall of 1999. Dr. Culbert is an avid
fitness enthusiast and gardener and a proponent of a
balanced healthy life style.
