Jeannette
Jackson-Thompson’s interests include cancer epidemiology,
health-related quality of life and information technology issues
such as maintaining the quality, integrity and security of electronic
databases and the role of public health informatics infrastructure
in cancer surveillance. Dr. Jackson-Thompson is the Operations
Director of the Missouri Cancer Registry and a Research Assistant
Professor in the Department of Health Management and Informatics
(HMI), University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to joining the HMI
faculty in August 2002, she served as Chief of the Office of Surveillance,
Research and Evaluation, Division of Chronic Disease Prevention
and Health Promotion, Missouri Department of Health and Senior
Services and directed the Missouri Cancer Registry Enhancement
Project and the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Project.
She is a member of the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR)
Scientific Work Group (SWG) and the SWG High Quality Data Subcommittee;
the Missouri Cancer Consortium’s Cancer Data and Planning
Committee; and the North American Association of Central Cancer
Registries (NAACCR) Death Clearance Issues Work Group. She is
also President-elect of the Fortnightly Club of the University
of Missouri-Columbia.
