Dr.
Dixit is an environmental mycologist, specializing in allergenic and
toxigenic fungi (molds). Her primary research interests include
bioaerosols; allergen characterization & cross-reactivity; and
indoor microbial contamination, interactions, immunomodulatory
effects, control & eradication. Dr. Dixit has received grants from
the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the
Department of Health, State of Missouri for her research projects.
Currently, she is serving as a co-investigator on a HUD -sponsored
project related to fungi and dust mites on carpet. She is also
associate director of the Environmental Health Research Laboratory.
Dr. Dixit is a reviewer for the Journal of Allergy, Asthma and
Immunology and GRANA. She is an active member of the American
Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and St. Louis Regional
Asthma Consortium. Prior to recently joining the School of Public
Health, she contributed as a guest lecturer for many years. Also,
Dr. Dixit has been assisting community-at-large in resolving indoor
environmental quality issues related to mold/microbial contamination
or flooding.
