Dr. Gautam is Associate Professor of Health Management in the Department of Health Management and Policy. His research is related to hospital boards, human resource management, and self-management of chronic diseases. He teaches Management of Healthcare Organizations, Human Resource Management and Business Sectors in Healthcare. Dr. Gautam received the 2006 Dean Conley Award for best paper in health management from the American College of Healthcare Executives, was co-recipient of the 1995 Edgar C. Hayhow Award for best paper in Hospital and Health Services Administration, and won “Professor of the Year” awards in 1994 & 1998. He is a member of ACHE, AUPHA and Academy of Management and has served on JCAHO’s Technical Advisory Committee on Ambulatory Care, as Fellow at the Commission for Accreditation of Health Management Education (CAHME), and as member of the Executive Committee of the Academy of Management’s Healthcare Division. He is currently Program Advisor at CAHME and on the Board of Directors at Cardinal Ritter Senior Services in Saint Louis.
