Dr. Kelly is an Assistant
Professor at Saint Louis University School of Public Health. Dr Kelly’s
initial training focused on psychological (BA) and cultural factors (MA)
related to healthy behaviors. To enhance her understanding of these factors
and the impact they have on health behaviors, while also expanding her
capacity to intervene appropriately, she earned a master’s degree in public
health from Saint Louis University School of Public Health in St. Louis,
Missouri. Her doctoral work built on this initial training by providing her
with the opportunity to examine how social, cultural, environmental and
political factors also impact health behaviors and how these factors vary
across race and class.
Over the last 7 years, Dr. Kelly has been actively engaged in various
stages of the research and intervention process, including designing,
implementing and evaluating physical activity and nutrition interventions,
conducting environmental audits of the physical and social environment,
analyzing data using Geographic Information Systems, developing, implementing
and analyzing surveys, and organizing a community forum to engage community
members and advocacy groups in the process of creating change to improve
health.
